WE have been to Fairfax Collegiate last summer, I do not think my son gained alot form this course as they have very young college students teaching ,and all they do is dish out worksheets most times, they do not give much homework and sometimes the classes are too big so the kids do not complete their work during the class. I was really disappointed with maths they were given about 4 text books with questions to complete but at the end of the course my sons book were very minimally completed.

My daughter took robotics for the past 2 summers w/ Fairfax Collegiate. I don't recall any worksheets but she sure had fun with the hands-on learning. Instructors were great both years - I'm sure she'll want to do another next year.

My son did the robotics, stop motion animation, and the architecture classes and really enjoyed them.

Are these courses for things you are interested in, or are they more for helping you catch up? I've never thought of sending my daughter to an educational camp like this (and yes, she still got in the the AAP program), but she is struggling with writing this year. She is great with math and science, but the writing is pretty bad and it is only going to get worse when she needs to use writing in her two favorite subjects. I'd consider this if it was something that might help.

Have you heard about MathTree camps? They specialize in math and use
interactive, hands-on methods to make math fun for kids. Check out their website: http://www.mathtree.com

My kids have done math and writing. Math is basic. It is good for a child that need reinforcement, but not for a child that is advanced. We found the writing course to be good for both kids.

I would be interested in hearing feedback from parents on the fairfax collegiate camps, it seems expensive.
