Toy car racing set recommendation needed!

My son is dying to get one of those car racing sets that you can race side by side with a friend on a track. Any idea which is a good brand? A good set?

We have bought a couple and they all break eventually (finicky electrical components) so dont spend a ton of money. Try the NASCAR one from Kids R Us. I think its about $50.

You can get the old Atari ones on the web - still popular in other countries. Way better than the ones at Kids R Us. They still are delicate and are not for children too young to appreciate that. You can even get one shaped like a real track (ours is Bathurst), if that's something you care about.
