| My DC is non-ASD/non-ADD or ADHD, but does have speech delays (both express & receptive), dysgraphia, & dyslexia. WISC scores were low overall. Everyone tells me Lab is for LD but gifted. Is this true? Will they even look at kids who have low scores? |
|
What do you consider low? Yes, they are great for LD but gifted, but they have kids who don't test out gifted and they can accomodate many types of learners. I have heart they are particularly good for dyslexia.
Did you go to a tester recommended by the school? If so she/he should be able to give you an idea based on other kids she/he has evaluated. |
| Lab is for kids with above average intelligence, which is not the same as gifted. You should call the AD and talk to them directly as they will be able to give you much better and more accurate advice on fit than anyone on this board. |
What kind of advice would an AD give? Yes, your scores are too low, don't apply to our school. |
| Lab wants at least average IQ. If your DS's are low on the verbal side, because of language issues, but high on visual/spatial, they will understand that. If they are average, that won't kill the application. If by low you actually mean below average (as opposed to average, which is "low" for this area), across the test, they are less likely to be interested. |
