i am hoping to find a place to take my son to for Hannukah...
most of the places listed in other threads are in Maryland (like Fractured Prune). any suggestions for Arlington, Falls Church, etc? |
| I like the non-cake style doughnuts at Heidelberg Bakery in Arlington - crullers, etc. |
My donut preferences are pedestrian in the extreme: I LOVE Krispy Kreme. Don't understand how anyone can waste valuable calories on anything but Krispy Kreme.

I wish I could open a donut shop in NoVa. We really need one.
The places I've seen mentioned as "good", are sad, sad, approximations of donuts. One place we tried is Milan Bakery & Miss Doughnut in Falls Church. The other is Montgomery Donuts in Crystal City. Both were pretty average. I think Heidelberg sucks too. |
| Lyon Hall has AMAZING donuts for brunch. They have a selection of 4 that changes every brunch and is very creative (and tasty), for example: smores donut, citrus poppyseed, apple strudel. I am seriously so hooked on those donuts that I usually make DH take me there for brunch. |
Amazingly inconsistent and over-priced. |
I was JUST coming in here to say this exact thing. They are awesome! |
+1 DH took me to fractured prune in Dupont as a special treat and it was all I could do not to say, "but there's a Krispy Kreme just three blocks from here!" |
| Safeway is better than Krispy Kreme. |
BLASPHEMEY!!!!!!!!!!!! *gets out the torches and pitchforks* |
| Shoppers grocery store...love |
| Krispy Kreme. End. Of. Discussion. |
| Not in NOVA...but had to mentioned Round Rock donuts in Texas. DH grew up outside of Austin so we are able to get our fix throughout the year. DH's groom's cake was actually a donut cake from there! They beat Krispy Kreme ten times over! |
| Krispy Kreme on Rt 1 in Alexandria |
| Krispy Kremes are squishy and why the fuck do they think you need a layer of glaze underneath the other flavors of frosting? Meh. |
