Kim Jong Il Has Died

The contrast to Havel could not be more stark. He was a nutty dictator who screwed his economy but somehow managed to build a bomb. He has left this mess to his 28? year old son. We don't know much about him except that he was a shy kid at boarding school and he was picked after his half brother was renounced for the crime of going to Disneyland in Tokyo. You heard me, the line of succession was decided over an argument about Disneyland.

Well anyway, the kid is young which could mean anything. And that's mostly upside when it comes to North Korea. At a minimum we should be able to count on a more youthful fashion sense. Oh wait, I just googled him, never mind about the fashion change. Apparently black is the new green and that's about it.

Anyway I am joking, but I am seriously interested in what people think might come of this regime change.

he was king
the throne is inherited as with other royalty
NK had a nuclear weapons program. Nobody knows if they had a bomb.

I think that says it all. It's tempting to say, "It couldn't be much worse," but unfortunately it could b/c the stakes are so high. Too bad he wasn't fully educated in the West like so many dictators' kids.

I thought he went to a European boarding school? Or was that one of his brothers?

I don't know, but the guy obviously hasn't suffered a bit from the country's low food supplies. Total porker.

Only up to his early teens, I think. Then he disappeared for years, presumably being home schooled in how to be completely batshit.

He's a puppet of the military. It's not good news.
