Let me preface this by saying I am NOT a SAHM, and yet, I am deeply annoyed with this guy. I usually like him, but today he went on and on and ON about how it is unfair that Kobe Bryant's wife can walk way with half his assets because they didn't have a prenup. He thought it was "really unfair" because she "didn't' have half of his talents, or played half of the games," etc. You get the drift. He tried to say that he doesn't think that because she is a woman and if the positions were inverted he would still say the same - whatever! As a lawyer tried to explain to him, marriage is social contract and a private contract, and they could have chosen to have a prenup, but they chose not to do so. And she stayed home, took care of the kids, made appearances for with him and stood by him. Yes, of course staying home was her decision as well, but it was a chance she took and him as well. And even if she had not stayed home, she would STILL have right to half of his assets. He spent 20 min ranting about this - really disturbing.
It is not like couples are forced to do this - they can always write a prenup. Anyways, just venting - I thought it was very unprofessional of him. |
| I was thinking she was fed up with him a long time ago but waited until just past 10 years to file for divorce so she would be set for life. |
Why wait for 10 y ears if they did not have a prenup? Does CA law requires 10 years too? |
Not sure but there is something about making it to the 10 year milestone for financial reasons. I read something about it when Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman divorced just before that milestone. Sounded like Tom planned to get the divorce before 10 years so he wouldn't be taken to the cleaners had he waited until after that. |

I didn't see the rant, but that's BS!
I hope she takes his cheating ass to the cleaners!! |
| I think they've already come to an agreement re: money and kids. |
