am debating whether to get this for my 3.5 year old. She loves books, loves to be read to and is interested in how words are spelled etc. My first inclination is that the tag reader would be great but two things. 1) I am not a big fan of electronic toys and 2) would this substitute for her coming over to me to read a book? anyone want to weigh in? thanks |
My daughter has one (she got it last Christmas). She likes it and it hasnt stopped her from wanting me/my husband read to her at all. |
I thought the leapfrog tag system was a wonderful gift idea.
My child doesn't have any interest in it ~ it sits unused. |
My kids love it. We tend to keep it for car trips which keeps it a special treat. |
4 year old DS has had his about a year, and uses it at bedtime (after we read to him, brush his teeth, etc.) for up to 30 minutes almost every night. He likes to be able to "read" himself, but still definately prefers us to read to him.
I will say that it doesn't really seem to be teaching him anything, just is an interactive toy. I'd recommend it nonetheless - and agree with PP - a new book or two makes it a wonderful toy for long trips! |
My 6 year old loved it until he learned to read himself. He used it when he transitioned from nap time to quiet time around 4. |
