Best time go to the post office?

Anonymous
The past couple days I have tried getting to the post office to mail off gifts and been unable to even go in- the parking lots were full and people were parking on the street. I truly did not have the time either of these days to wait 30+ minutes in line at the post office so I'm still driving around with presents in my trunk. These days I went between 10-11 am, before the lunch rush, but it was still packed. Anyone know what the emptiest time tends to be?

Use click and ship online at USPS.gov. You can print the label and postage and put it out for the mailman. Very easy and much less aggravating.

NP here, but i thought they have a relatively new rule that packages over a certain weight (13 oz?) HAVE to be taken to the desk at the post office.

I've mailed larger packages online in the last week. I think the 13 oz thing applies to mailboxes in post offices. We leave our packages at the front door. When you do click and ship you sign up for carrier pick up or you can drop it off at the PO. If you are dropping off prepaid packages you don't need to wait in line - they usually have boxes on the counter.
