But whoever that one person is sure does know a hell of a lot about the soccer scene and DCU. Can't really deny that

That one knowledgeable person is educating this novice parent so we know there are at least 2 of us and the snarky commenter which makes at least 3.

Athletic Bilbao can maintain a 1st team in La Liga that has never been relegated from a population of 2m.

Croatia can create a World Cup team from a population of 3m.

Is it too much to ask for DCU to develop 3-4 home grown talents from a population of 6m?

Can you imagine what Audi field would look like if we had 3-4 home grown talents that went onto top 5 European academies when they are 22-23 after 4-5 years on 1st team? We would all be invested with season tickets as there would be a genuine pathway of local talent that we would perpetually root for whether our kids are still involved or not. Nobody at DCU currently has that vision and apparently none of the parents or else this fight would not exist.

I assume the current DCU academy players are the best players in the DMV. I do not know enough to know about recruiting, etc. Kudos to those players and those parents. No one should degrade that accomplishment. That is a major accomplishment.

Is it okay to ask whether our youth systems are not producing a high enough product for DCU to choose from or that DCU is getting a good product and then not developing them? All of these are fair questions that people who care about the game can ask without all of this excess emotion.

Our local ABC affiliate just posted a clip on IG about of Tim Howard and Landon Donovan ripping DCU and their lack of investment in the team. Are two of our best USMNT players crazy too?

And what is your response to yourself? Cmon don't be scared!

DCU Academy isn't good...got it. Still the best place in the DMV for a kid to land if they can. Move on and go visit your mirror. You can actually see yourself talking to yourself there.

Shhhhhhhhh.... he's thinking of responding to himself speaking in the third person

I don't think he thought past the part of what to do/say after trying to convince 3 people that dcu is a bad academy

You're dumb 🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮😂🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮

You're defeated it's ok. Just leave the real conversation to the grown ups who actually know something about the game and DCU. Your comments time and time again prove you have nothing to say really just trying to deflect from the real issue. And no, DCU isn't the best place for someone to land in the DMV. It is all subjective and based on your goals as a player. If you want to become a top top player, truly elite, you actually cannot go to DCU because your game will stall due to the state of the academy. Maybe one year max in DCU just for the experience and the exposure to the player pool. After that, diminishing returns both on the development side and on your rights as a player side. You're better off trying to find a coach in the DMV that actually teaches the game, playing in his or her system or club, with a focus on skill acquisition and exploring other MLS academies around the nation. DCU is not the best path for a player in the DMV and anyone trying to tell you that in fact knows sh#t about the game and how someone develops their game as a youth player. DCU is A path, but certainly not the best.

And if you want more proof about how DCU is a crap academy, ask the incoming u14 parents about how DCU pulled the rug up from under them and cancelled the u14 team and season for next year. All of those kids are searching for new clubs and scrambling to find a good fit because they were banking on being at DCU.

Once you're done with that, ask ALL the parents that are in DCU now about how DCU is making morning practices mandatory which also makes their online school mandatory from a scheduling perspective because how could you go to a traditional school and make morning practices everyday, and the fact that they now want parents to PAY for the online school. 10k a year. After they tried to fund it for ONE age group and that was too much of an investment for them.

DCU is literally the laughingstock of MLS academies. All of the above coupled with being probably one of the worst academies at this year's GA cup in both ages groups, and you have a really poor environment for the kids. and it will not change until there is new leadership. Same as the Commanders were in the Snyder era.

Next year's u15s bring asked to pay for online school for sure. The other age groups tbd...maybe they continue to fund their schooling. Who knows. It's a total wildcard year after year

Randomly came across this podcast from 2022. Start at the 6 min mark, he briefly touches on DCU. Youth sports analyst. Pretty much says what was said in previous posts.

TLDR: DCUA sucks at scouting. Talent rich area and outside academies come and scoop up players.

Listen to podcast above starting at 6 min mark, for about 2-3 minutes.

But apparently the DCUA defenders here know something these analyst's don't.

All true. And again they scrapped the u14 team for next year and are making parents pay for online school next year. DCU is an embarrassment. Seriously. It really is

The new director must be thinking what the hell did I get myself into with this job??!! These decisions aren't from him they are from upper management and are based solely on saving money and spending the absolute least amount of money they can and still carry some level of credibility within the MLS. When you have no budget and leadership that doesn't genuinely care about your academy, what can you do really?? Just keep the ship afloat. And that is all DCU wants to do. Sucks for all the kids because they are the ones that are losing. And DCU is the best path for a player in our area??? What a joke. Not if you genuinely want to become a better player. If you want paper notoriety, the facade of elite level, and an ego boost for the parents yeah DCU is good. But if you want real progress on your game that is measured and accountable, there is no way you can go to DCU. The academy hasn't put a player on the first team in three years.. THREE YEARS. And that won't change anytime soon because they haven't produced the talent. Just a really poor state of affairs at DCU.

DCU can neither identify nor develop talent. Just ask FC Austin and Philly Union, some of the outside academies that scooped up talent from the DMV area that DCU ignored.

No wins across all four age groups against Philly Union. Sad. Even if they won, it wouldn't matter. They aren't teaching the kids a damn thing.

Boy you are tweaking...really went on a bender here on this post. I think you have problems man.

I can see you in your basement...blinds shut and crumbs covering your body. Peering through your dirty glasses and typing away to yourself. You were once an up-and-coming janitor with DCU, but they let you go and now you want to take them down one reply at a time. Well done warrior.

Moving on...keep deflecting. DCU deserves you. You both got nothing going on.
