Love or Hate

Okay how many parents are experiencing a situation that you love the principal but hate the staff? On this thread it is sometimes the complete opposite that is shared. That is why I found it so interesting that DCPS has implemented a customer service blitz. My major issue is communication or the lack thereof? Is there anyone else experiencing the L&H symptons at your child's school.

DCPCS: LOVE the staff, HATE the principal. Unfortunately, the number of negative adjectives that come to mind for her is staggering.
Sorry if this doesn't really go with your DCPS customer service blitz. Our principal is frightened of talking to the parents and would never think of saying anything informative to them unless poked with a pointy stick by the PA or the executive director.

What is a PA?

OP, how could you hate an entire staff? Do you have 10-30 children?

I think it's meant to be a joke.

Thank you, 9:22. My sarcasm detector seems to be on the fritz.

23:34, I am not the old lady who lives in a shoe. I am just referencing the staff as individuals. Such as I love the Principal but strongly dislike her choice for Parent Coordinator. I love the Principal but really can't fathom her male choice for Assistant Principal.

I know there are other parents who experiencing the same situation and for DCPS to address it then it has gotten bigger.

I am telling your the body language and the tone of responses from certain DCPS staff have made the mild and meek parent almost come out of character when dealing with my child's school.

Do you like everyone you work with? I know I don't but the real question is does that person do their job. If they don't detail specific examples and take it to the appropriate person. Alternately sometimes the situation is just bad. I had a secretary I just hated, turns out she was in constant pain and retired soon after.

PP here: It wasn't. I love them and think they're incredibly hard-working and wonderful. Wasn't trying to turn it into a YY thread. Just saying I think they're all great. What's wrong with that? If you don't like your principal or staff, say so, and I'm sorry for you. But if you are happy with your school, say so!

I was just pointing out a problem that clearly also has the attention of the Chancellor's office. I was really wondering to myself that all of DCPS staff had the worst attitude or career-constipation that I ever seen.

Again, the specific problems are too numerous but I am not that nit-picky because I can chalk up some situations as a bad-day-at-work.

Constant pain, constant complainer no doubt and I guess that is where the dislike may have arisen.

If I were a manager and I had a widespread problem with people being unpleasant, I might wonder whether or not I was doing something that was making people unpleasant.

Hmmm. I love the principal at Barnard, Dr. Reid, as well as the aftercare coordinator Ms. Montgomery. We've also lucked out with the teachers we've had.

Actually I totally get this thread an effective office staff can make a huge difference. We switched to Eaton this year and I can say hands down their front office staff is amazing, cheerful, efficient, focused on getting things done whatever that may be. The feeling I had before was an office staff that so resented everything that each request felt like you were taking hat in hand and asking for a miracle. It can make a huge difference in the whole attitude of the school.
