inserting prometrium

Anonymous
I'm wondering if the pharmacy made a mistake. I've read here about how people insert various progesterone suppositories. All I got was a bottle of peach round pills, no applicator. It is 100, twice a day. Was I given the wrong form?

If you don't use an applicator, do you just push the pill up as far as you can with your finger?

Yes I pushed the pill up as far as I could go, I wasn't given an applicator either. Afterwards I'd lie down for about 10-20 minutes so it would absorb a bit, wear a pantyliner...

My peach ones never came with an applicator, and we smooth and small enough to go in easily with a finger. The large, chalky white ones (endometrin, I think) come with an applicator - although, personally, I still use my finger because it is quicker and easier, although they do not go in as smoothly.

Thanks PPs, very helpful.

If you take the peach round ones (prometrium) can you put both in at night or do you have to take one at night and one in the morning? I'm concerned about the intense sleepy feeling some people report. I know this is a question I should ask my doc. Her instructions are unclear.

I took the peach ones, but was prescribed 2 at night and 1 in the morning. I never bothered laying down after inserting it, but the night ones basically stayed in until I got up in the morning when all of the resulting goo would come out. And in answer to your original questions, I just inserted with a finger as far as they would go.

If it's twice a day do it am and pm. Just wear a pantyliner. Believe me even if you inserted 2 at night, the 24/7 goo discharge never stops. I'm now at 1 a day and it's still leaking all day long.

If by chance you get the endometrium which has the applicator you can use one of those for the pills. That's what I'm doing because finger up the vag grosses me out.

I did one in the am and one at night also...
