I know the problems high prolactin can cause but does anyone know what happens if you have low prolactin?
The nurse called with my results and said low is fine, no problem. The internet isn't helping me much. Before I decide if it is worth trying to get my doc on the phone, can anyone tell me if they have had a conversation with a doc about low prolactin? I've breastfed in the past so it can't always have been this low. |
| Not a problem, the lab test has a significant margin of error, you are probably totally normal, but the prolactin circulating at the time of blood draw may have been low because serum hormone levels can vary greatly and still be considered normal. |
| Thanks PP. I find it really odd given that I am still producing a little milk 9 months post-weaning. |
