Amazon Mom - extending Prime benefits?

Anonymous
So I earned a year of free Prime membership through Amazon Mom (yay!) but it's expiring next month (boo!) and I will probably just sign up to pay the $79 Prime membership fee (meh) - but I'm wondering if anyone has successfully cancelled their Amazon Mom membership and then signed up again with a new email address to go back to the good old days of free Prime benefits...? Yes, I'm trying to game the system and I'm wondering if anyone else has successfully done so. Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing. I wonder if you could have DH sign up and use his account?

This is stealing and not in the spirit of the offer. I assume you can get away with it, but that doesn't make it right.

When I recommended to a friend that she look into Amazon Mom, she said that their website says they're not taking any new members.

So that might be your answer right there.

For what it's worth, I have found the $80 a year I spend on my Prime membership to be totally worth it, over the course of the year. I have a baby in diapers and the shipping alone on that and other household goods, birthday presents and random stuff has completely made up the difference.

I have been thinking the same thing about DH. When I glanced at the terms of membership a few months ago, I did not see any limitations saying only 1 per HH, so do not consider it stealing.

I heard somewhere that they are planning to reopen Amazon Mom after the holidays, so you could try then. But they have cut the Amazon Mom S&S discount from 30% to either 20 or 25%, so slightly more expensive on the items you order regularly.

In the meantime, I am just spending a little more energy to group purchases to meet the $25 free shipping threshhold.

Your DH can sign up. That's what my DH did a month ago even though I had prime earlier in the year. We ship to the same address and I am listed on his Prime membership so I can use Prime through my account as well. Love it!

I'm in the same boat - my free membership expires in a few days and I am totally HOOKED on it but I don't want to pay for it!

Since it has worked for others, I may try to sign up DH when it reopens in January, but if I don't finish my Christmas shopping in the next 3 days, I'm screwed. At this point, it KILLS me to pay for shipping on anything.

Pay it. It's $80. Jeez people.

While I too loved my Prime membership, I do think I spend less when I have to clump purchases to get the free shipping. The allure of free 2 day shipping really made it easy to spend. Though I am considering having the husband sign up soon.

what's the advantage?

You can pool the prime membership between family members. You get free 2 day shipping on everything and free movie streaming. It will pay for itself in the end. Try buying more items like detergent, toilet paper etc... the savings are great. It's like a virtual costco.

DH has his own mom account and I signed up with 2 email addresses.

I agree that it seems dishonest to use another email address. Just pay the $80 if you can afford it. It's worth it completely. With the free movies and free shipping to any address. Definitely a good value.

It doesn't work with subscribe and save, though...

I like having it, but how does it pay for itself? All that stuff ships free anyway; you just have to wait a few more days and spend $25 at a time.
