If so many people knew about these crimes, why didn't a single one of them ever mention it in writing?

You know... a paper trail??

Nothing. Why?

Some victims don’t tell anyone, even close confidants, and when they do tell they may insist on the confidence of the friends or family they tell.

Even as older mature adults, not one victim stepped up...
until his Democrat opponent was trailing by 9 points.

Um, nice.

The all powerful WaPo defense, eh? No wonder you clowns are afraid of them - they went back in time and got Moore banned from the mall and thecYMCA. Now that's some serious power.

Also you're defending a child molester.

The Alabama Bar is complicit as well. Two bar complaints filed during his mall-cruising years and then withdrawn, and then he disappears to Australia?

Who wants to place bets on him raping or getting a teenager pregnant right before he takes off?

Al.com has a new story confirming that Moore's pursuit of young girls was common knowledge and quotes some new women on the record saying that Moore made them feel uncomfortable with the way he acted with them.

There is no doubt Moore liked legal young girls. That's not a crime and was quite common back then.

The problem I have is M.O. - why would a man who plans to attack young underage women ask a mother's permission to date her legal daughter?

THIS. I feel for these girls, now women. But why oh why couldn't they have reported this EARLIER?? Then, perhaps, this guy could have been prosecuted. The worst that will happen to him is that his political career is ruined.

Exactly. WaPo needs their candidate to win.
No matter what.

Assume for a minute that is true. So what? He still behaved the way he did, and if you voted for him, you're supporting a pedophile.

Half his defenders don't even deny it. They make excuses based on the Bible or arguments like you're making. You're rationalizing.

The other way of looking at this is why didn't local press expose it years ago? Because ... why? Complicit?

It's true. He's a sexual predator and a pervert. Who cares if The Post doesn't want him to win -- I don't want him to win either. Not because he's a Republican, but because he's clearly a deplorable and despicable human being. There's no air conditioning where he's going in the afterlife -- and I don't want him in the United States Congress, either.

The problem I have? The bolded word. Everything you've said is due to an assumption

NOPE.

The accuser yesterday said she was 15 when he assaulted her. The girl he picked up at the courthouse was 14. "Legal?"

At this point, anyone who still supports Moore is either a single-digit IQ or morally degenerate. No point discussing further with either category.

Obviously feeling the mother out to see how much he can get away with.

Anyone? These victims haven't been in their teens for a LONG time. Was anyone threatened with anything? Loss of a career? A job? Anything?

Why suddenly now, now that WaPo wants THEIR candidate to win?

Because Roy Moore decided to step up to the national stage. Routine reporting on the campaign got wind of the local history of Creepy Roy and BOOM!

Exactly.

It's not rocket science, boys. You step up to the national stage, you get scrutinized more, and whatever skeletons are in your closet are going to come out.

The WaPo doesn't have a million reporters stationed in every town to start looking into all the stories there of pervs. In fact, if these stories hadn't been so prevelant, the WaPo reporter wouldn't have heard of them and decided to investigate.

Maybe you all should be criticizing the local papers for not investigating the rumors when Moore was just a local figure.

Don't be a ridiculous LIAR.

Do you sincerely not believe that/understand how victims are doubted?

The public opinion interrogations of these and similar victims tells you what you need to know, essentially rationalizing the assault/misconduct:
-“she had been drinking”
-“what was she wearing?”
-“if this was real, she would have reported it years ago”
-“but he has such great swim times”

And on and on and on.

DP here. As far as the bolded goes, people would be A LOT less likely to doubt someone who didn't wait 40 years to report a sexual assault. I don't doubt these women. But I understand how others might, given the DECADES that have passed. People are far more likely to believe a victim if the victim reports the crime immediately. And that goes for any kind of crime, not just sexual assault. Don't we want to prosecute these people? THEN REPORT!!!

Ask your friends and relatives who among them has been molested or assaulted and didn't report it. You will be shocked at the answer.

And start volunteering at a rape crises shelter if you want insight into the minds of victims of sexual crimes. You'll learn something and maybe do some good in the world.

LOL @ the thought of mall cop flunkies approaching a hot shot district attorney / West Point veteran and banning him from the local mall. Did your dossier tell you that? "Sources" gave that bombshell to a lefty rag called the New American Journal dot net! LOL
