I think the Ivies are going to be HIGHLY Asian and Indian this fall. Look at their accepted student pages (the University run ones). It's striking.

Kind of interesting. At NCS 5 of the 9 going Ivy are white.

GDS and Sidwell don’t have a 10 out of 12 season sport requirement. STA and NCS do. It makes a difference.

My son went to STA and I concur. The academics are rigorous, but the day is far from done when classes are over. That said, STA was an amazing school for him – both in helping shape the person he is and preparing him academically. Further, and as many STA (and likely NCS) graduates will attest, college was an easier experience – and he’s graduating with honors from a top school.

Gag

And it is coming from someone who thinks STA does a great job for the right kid (mine would not be a fit there). Their CCO is also great.

Only 4 are white, and 3 of them are legacies.

Yale 2 (white legacies x 2)
Princeton 2 (legacy white x 1), Asian
Harvard White
Columbia URM
Cornell 2. Asian x 2
Dartmouth White

One Penn (Asian). Moral of the story - guess who lost after the SC decision? Black students. But I guess that was the point.

Many girls have yet to post. How did the other half of the class land?

No school sends the whole class to Top 20 colleges!

Sidwell has at least 18 going to Ivies. Two are white, two are Black, two are Black/white biracials, and at least three are Asian/white biracials. I believe the remainder are full Asian.

It is now illegal to use race. So there are two logical conclusions: either Asian and Indian students are doing better academically than white students at Sidwell. OR - more Asian/Indian students are applying to Ivies and many top performing white students are choosing other schools because they don’t have a marginalized history that leads them to choose Ivies as a way to get ahead. They are already generationally wealthy, so can afford to have fun in college. Just a guess.

This is not factually accurate. Discuss.

Do people really say biracial? I thought “mixed race” is more appropriate.

Colleges extended decisions now to May 15th. Will see more posts for all schools then.

It’s a matter of personal preference. My daughter is biracial (parents from two different racial groups), and she strongly prefers the term biracial. Other people may/do prefer other terms. Call people what they are and how they choose to identify.

Most Asian American and Indian American students at Sidwell are among the strongest students academically. Academically strong white students have chosen very strong non-Ivy schools. Most people seem quite happy with outcomes.

You are allowed to use race in your supplements.

Yes but colleges are barred from using race as a factor in admissions. And if they do they will be sued again.

Exactly what I said above. Agreed.

One of the white students is heavily hooked, including being a legacy. I’m not sure about the other one. The two Black/white biracial students don’t have any obvious hooks, and neither are legacies at any Ivy. At least one of the Asian/white biracial students is a legacy.
