Whole Foods = Best grocery store cakes?

Anyone agree with this? I have to order a birthday cake and was informed that Whole Foods cakes are better than other stores.

I think there must be other possibilities. I've tried Costco cakes, for example, and they've been good.

I adore WF in general but their bakery goods in general are not good, and certainly not worth the price. Safeway birthday cakes are 100 times better and cost less.

Whole foods cakes are dry and heavy, and really expensive. Costco cakes have always been good when I've had them

Ilike Trader Joes cakes. They are smnall though. I don't like the myriad of chemicals in other stotres cakes.

Ditto on Costco. Always delicious

Whole Foods is fine for bread and pastries, but NOT cakes or cupcakes. I don't know how they manage to produce such crappy cakes, but they do.

I agree with others. WF cakes and cupcakes are icky. Their fancy cakes are good, but the sheet cake and cupcakes are nasty.

I love whole food bread but I think they are terrible for cakes. In fact we got a grad cake from them a few years ago in Tenly which was moldy when we took it home. We brought it back and customer service didnt even blink an eye - seemed to be par for the course.

The cakes at WF are disgusting.

WF does have a really good cake with strawberries and layers of white icing. Mmmmmmm....

another vote for Costco...they really are the best

Gross. Make one yourself.

cakes at WF are really bad. They look pretty but everyone we've had has been really disappointing.

What area do you live in? There are so many good bakeries in the DC area! I agree re:WFM-cakes are OK, but not worth price.
