| I'm hosting a brunch next weekend with several moms who are BFing and have gone dairy free. I get no milk, no cheese, no butter. Are eggs ok? I'm going to make a dairy-free frittata... any other brunch suggestions besides a fruit salad? |
| Eggs are o.k. Have fun! |
| Eggs are fine - they are not dairy. You could do a tuna or chicken salad. Muffins. |
| dairy free smoothies, bisquick mix is dairy free so I add cocoa powder and make chocolate waffles. Hash browns are good too. |
| Sausage, ham and bacon are also fine. |

Just a PSA from a dairy-free mama. First of all, you are such a kind friend to think of adjusting the menu this way. I guarantee all your friends will be thrilled to walk into a whole room full of food they can eat.
Second, just make sure to double-check the ingredients list on anything store-bought -- English muffins, for example, have milk in them. Other muffins might be made with butter. Even many margarines, which people naturally think of as a dairy-free sub for butter, actually contain some milk. WF sells a reasonably good df cream cheese, if you want to throw some bagels into the mix. |

Thanks ladies (and gentlemen).
I won't be all dairy free, but I know new-momhood enough to know that it is nice to have options. Dairy-free frittata, fruit salad, hummus and veggies, and pulled pork (homage to the South) it is. And some nice dairy-licious red velvet cupcakes for me! |
