using the ipad 2 - some questions

Anonymous
yes, as my questions will show, i am a complete novice when it comes to the ipad. we just ordered one and want to load preschool friendly type stuff on there - apps, videos. any apps that your 2.5 year old loves? do we download the videos via itunes and then onto the ipad? i will literally have 1 hr at home with the ipad before we head to the airport so i want to be able to set it up (is there much to do?) and get it loaded super quick. tia!

Quick -- jump onto ITunes from your Mac. Download (quick) whatever videos or shows you want in ITunes and then transfer to the IPad. You can buy the apps directly from ITunes but you cannot download directly (video content) (at least on the IPad 1). Learned this the very hard way at the airport last week. . . .
Don't have recs for 2.5 year old except for Red Fish. Suggest that you google "kid friendly apps" (you'll get a list of top 10 from about.com or from cnet) and go from there.

Enjoy!
PS Remember that IPads and IPhones don't use/support Flash; I philosophically agree with this decision on Apple's part but gracious it's a pain sometimes!

I digress: what is the diss btn apple and flash? I'd really like to have flash on the iPad.
OP, if you're an Amazon Prime member, we've learned the Amazon streaming does not work on the ipad.

If you have DVDs that you might want to take, Google "Handbrake" (or any other ripping program) and rip the DVDs (purely for personal backup purposes of course) and load those into iTunes as well.

Airport has free wifi but it's slow, so movies will take hours to download there. My dd love curius george, so have video and books on ipad, again found at apps store. Most kids shows have something for he iPad. Have fun!

Thanks everyone! I'm still a bit confused about the process of getting videos on there (we don't have any DVDs to rip and load) - should we go through itunes to get videos or through the app store? Or do both offer videos?

I don't think it makes a difference. It might be faster to download to computer then update/sync your iPad. Depends of wifi speed.
