Why are all duvet covers too short? We have a deep mattress- but aren't all mattresses deep?

I need a duvet cover that covers my mattress damn it. Why can't Ikea supply me with this!

(Implicit in this rant is my request for you to provide me with a list of expensive places that I can procure an oversided duvet set from). TIA.

Is it the duvet *cover* that is too short? Or the duvet itself? I'm curious. I don't have this problem because we have a shallow Ikea mattress and a platform type bed.

I feel so ignorant- I put the _duvet_ cover on the duvet, not on the mattress - ? Am I doing it wrong?

s/o rant: duvet covers that are 3 sizes BIGGER than the freaking duvet, so you get all this extra loose fabric hanging off the bed!

I've gone back to comforters.

11:34 - i'm thinking about ditching them too. they never fit right and end up all lumpy.

I agree with the OP. I have a king sized duvet for our queen sized mattress, but even it seems to be too small. I don't know what I'll do when I get a king sized mattress!

I'm right behind you...I either need to learn how to sew and make my own that fits the exact dimensions of our duvets or switch to comforters. So tired of the excess fabric!
