I have nothing against the charity, but was wondering if there are other non-profits that need toys. I figure that most that do end up getting their toys from Toys 4 Tots but am still wondering what else is out there. Maybe some group homes for kids waiting for adoption, etc. Among other things, I have a couple Christmas trains that would be great around the Christmas tree at these types of facilities.
I think LAYC is collecting, according to the Wilson weekly emails
Many churches in the area do Angel Trees, where a tree is put up with ornaments on it with the name of a child who has a parent or parents who are incarcerated on it. You select a child and send them a gift "from the parent" who is in prison. If you really want to get more personal with things, or just donate in a different way, I think going to a local church and selecting some kids off the Angel Tree would be a great way to get those trains out.
