This has probably been discussed before, but I can't find it on a search, so I apologize.
I am flying alone with my 2 kids (3.5 and 16 mo), which I HATE doing, so I"m trying to minimize junk to carry on board. I have a seat for my 16mo and I'm trying to decide if he can use the CARES harness so that i don't have to lug the carseat with me. He is within the recommended age and weight range for the harness, but I'm just not sure how well it will actually restrain him on the flight if(when) he gets antsy. It's a 2.5 hour flight. Normally he'll nap in his carseat and play for a while. Not sure how it'll work out with the extra freedom of motion/lack of comfiness he'll have with the harness. Anyone ever use it for a young toddler? Thanks! |
| We used it for our then-14 month old last winter, and I have no regrets. He slipped down some in the seat (because the harness has no crotch strap) and I had to readjust him several times, but it wasn't too inconvenient. He would have slept much better if he'd been in his car seat, but I think it was still worth it. (This was a flight of around 3 hours.) |

I used it at 16 months for my active son. He figured out ways to wiggle out of it very quickly. Figured out how to unlatch the seat belt too. Have tried to use it on a few other flights and had issues a couple of times. On Delta the seats of the plane were indented a bit where the tray tables went up and when I used the cares restraint, the lady behind us couldn't shut the tray and have it stay so we ended up just having him sit in the seat with the regular belt.
Didn't work out for me. Willing to sell you mine if you are still interested. theresa.casselman@cox.net Theresa |
