Who's got a bugaboo?

Yes, yes...yet another bugaboo cameleon question. How does it fare when you travel by plane? Is it exceptionally cumbersome?

I love it-I can use it in a store or for rough road hiking. As for plane--I just push it up to the gateway and then gatecheck it there. One caution though-I have never done this when I have had a connecting flight since I might be nervous that it wouldn't show up in my final destination.

I flew with my Bugaboo once by checking it in the Bugaboo case we bought. To PP- how did you fold it at the gate or did they just check the thing unfolded??? I definitely thought it was cumbersome to travel with. Not only that, it was cumbersome to lug around in a taxi or rental car once we got to our destination. The one time we traveled with it, we also found it annoying that it's so big, it took up a lot of space in our hotel room.

We've flown many times w/ our Maclaren and it works great for travelling. It's easy to fold at the gate, doesn't take up much trunk space or hotel space. If I'm going anywhere by car, trian, plane, I take our Maclaren. The Cameleon is just for walks around town.

Hated it .. have not used it with flying but didn't like it overall. It is too low so your baby is at the same level as all the car exhausts and I kept hurting my shin against the car. It is simply not suitable for taller people in my opinion. You can always take your MacLaren, great for travelling but if your baby is too small you will need your pram

For what we paid I honestly expected more from it. I call it my Mercedes SUV. It was expensive and looks good and drives well, but what I'd like from it is the inside of a mini-van. A cup holder would be nice.

Funny you say that PP; we also have a Mercedes SUV and I feel exactly the same ... Looks don't tell it all

We got the travel bag, which works, only we pretty much had to pack it into the bag at home and check it. For short trips it probably wouldn't be worth it because the bag is quite large; we only take it on longer trips. Eventually we'll probably give in and get a maclaren for shorter trips.

We have a bugaboo and a McCalaren Volo. I love the bugaboo and wish we could take it everywhere, but it sure is a pain to fold. When we went to NoLa where we knew we'd be walking a ton and want our 15 month old to fall asleep in the stroller, we packed it in the travel bag and gate checked the bag. The stroller was a champ and we all had a great visit. For our next trip to the cottage with grandma, we'll just take the Volo and the Ergo carrier, b/c we'll be able to have naps in the house and all those walks on the beach/in the woods will probably be easier with the Ergo than the Bug.

Now, if only we had thought about the number 2 on the way when we bought the Bug, I might have gone for a Phil & Ted's instead.
