Comcast VS streaming VS satellite

We currently have Comcast for cable and internet. It's fine, but overpriced. We like to watch some network shows and sports as well as documentaries, other assorted movies you might find on IFC or Sundance, cooking channel-type shows.

I'm intrigued by the Apple TV / Roku boxes - if you left Comcast for one of these streaming boxes, was it worth it? Also considering satellite TV via Dish / Direct TV - thoughts on that?

We have always had satellite and had to switch to Comcast due to trees. I have to say I have been very impressed with Xfinity. The amount available on demand is way better than on Satellite.

Not sure on the boxes. We tested Apple TV last year as a promotion but ended up sending it back. Mostly movies (I like to watch TV series) and everything was a charge here, charge there. I think those services are coming along though.
