Hi, I am new to the area and we are expecting our 2nd child. I would greatly appreciate OB recommendations in or around Bethesda. I am looking at one group, Capital Women's Care, and they deliver at Shady Grove. I would appreciate thoughts on Shady Grove as well.
Thanks!! |
We are with Midwifery Care Associates, a midwife based practice associated with Simonds and Simonds (I haven't had to see the Drs). We really like the practice, but more importanty for you, they deliver at Shady Grove. We did the tour and were very impressed. We haven't delivered there yet, but are looking forward to it. We looked at several other hospitals before deciding on this one -- both for the facilities and because we liked the hospital practices. |
I delivered at Shady Grove on June 27 and thought the overall experience was really good. I was induced therefore had an IV and was hooked to monitors but I was allowed to get up from the bed and labor on my birth ball. The labor and delivery room was very spacious with a huge window. The nurses during labor and delivery and post-partum were wonderful with only one exception. The nurses were very patient with DH, teaching him how to handle our DD as I tried to get some sleep. The recovery rooms are very quiet, they had an almost full house when we were there and you could not hear anything through the walls. The breastfeeding support was adequate. In all, we were very happy to have picked Shady Grove and will go there again for our next LO.
Congrats and have a safe delivery! |
We used Richard Footer and loved our experience with his office. |
I saw Dr. Gurdian and associates with Capital Women's Care. They are an all female group and they deliver at Shady Grove. I loved tham and their team. I was induced at Shady Grove in March and had a superb experience with the L&D nurses (Phyllis rocks!) and the post-partum care was really great as well. |
