Saw many people are serving green beans. How are you making them? Any good casserole recipes?
I cook fresh green beans--adding about 2 tsp salt, 1 tsp sugar, and a strip of bacon or several pieces of pork to the water. Cook 'til just tender--not crisp and not mushy.
Steam / serve with Tarragon and butter

I'm thinking about trying Alton Brown's recipe, but just using a can of French's and calling it a night. |
I just made Pioneer Woman's green bean casserole with onion, garlic, bacon, milk, flour, half and half, cayenne, and I put the crunchy onions on top. It was oh my. I'd highly recommend it.

I made this recipe last year and will be making it again this year. It was excellent. I think I ate all the leftovers by myself.

Steamed, bright green and crisp!
I always do them amandine. There are so many dishes that are so heavy on Thanksgiving, I need something that's not a casserole! Plus my way is really easy & quick.

I don't do green bean casserole. Steam/blanch & add a little butter & lemon zest, or saute some mushrooms to go with.
OP, 1950's is calling: "Drop the salmon mousse jello mold and get in here--these Pall Mall cigarettes won't smoke themselves!"

I've made Alton's recipe 3 times now, but with French's and it came out AWESOME! I highly recommend it. |
Gross.
I make scratch cream of mushroom soup, blanch fresh green beans and then use french's onions. Crazy delicious.
