Franklin Montessori in DC

Anonymous
We've had several frustrating incidents with our child's current montessori program and are considering switching to Franklin Montessori (DC) next year. Our child will be 4 and we're worried that the adjustment may be difficult socially -- friendships may already be formed in the classroom, etc. Perhaps we're being silly, but wondered if anyone with experience switching preschools had any insight. Any insights or opinions on Franklin would be appreciated as well.

We love Franklin. Our DC is happy every morning going to school. The teachers are wonderful, they are able to figure out what each child needs, with encouragement, lessons, focus etc. They handle many different minded children and I'm always amazed at how well they do it. I believe there have been other children that moved to Franklin from previous schools, and the transition usually goes well. But each child is different in needs and expectations, you'll know your child best and how to prepare him or her for the change. My two cents would be spell everything out, don't assume he or she will understand exactly what the change will be, children can be so literal. New school, with new teachers and new friends in a new location...
