Acquaintance vs. Friend

What would you say is the difference between the two?


I think I blur the line between calling acquaintances "friends". Even though we have known each other for years, it has always been that we were in weddings and at birthday parties, we see each other and speak maybe once a year, no emails, texts, or calls, etc... Even though we live within the same city.

Everyone you know is an acquaintance. I'm sure they aren't all friends.

I would call a friend without thinking about it if I way to share something or need anything.
If I have to think about wheither or not I call someone, it's an Acquaintance.
That the main difference for me I think.
