IVF stim over the holidays - managing meds?

Anonymous
For those of you out there who are stimming for IVF (or IUI) over the Thanksgiving Holidays, what are you doing about meds? I've called my pharmacies and they're all closed Thursday, but they also said (the mail order ones) that Fedex doesn't deliver on Thanksgiving.
I'm paying out of pocket for meds, so I didn't buy any more than I absolutely needed to at the beginning, but what does one do if the amount of meds goes up? Have any of you gotten refills in advance?
Anyone else in this situation last year?

It's only 1 day...the world isn't shutting down. Can't you get your meds locally instead of doing mail order for refills? Just get your RX and bring it to a local pharmacy that does IVF meds. This should not be an issue at all. Ambulatory Care takes meds back so there you go. Problem solved.

I never cycled over Thanksgiving, but I did always worry about having enough meds over weekends, etc - and I was self-pay. Depending on when you start stims, you should have a general idea of what you will need in time to get some extra by Wed, so that you are covered on Thu. I never had meds upped by more than 75ius on any given day, so any jump should be in a small increment - if at all.

I always had a spare Gonal-f at 450ius for emergency use, so that I didn't have to open a larger vial towards the end of my cycle. And, some local pharmacies will give you a refund for unused, unopened IVF meds purchased at their pharmacy, so you could get a stash to cover you and return them if you don't use them. Check with the pharmacy first, however, to make sure yours will take a refund.
