| Can you recommend an idiot-proof cranberry side dish I can make? TIA! |
| Cranberry sauce is SUPER easy. Get cranberries. Put them in a pot, cover with water, bring to a boil. Cook until the berries pop. Add sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and orange to taste. Cool. Yummm! |
| I cook a bag of cranberries with a cup of orange juice and a lot of sugar. Boil until cranberries pop, then stir and enjoy delicious cranberry sauce. |
| The recipe is on the bag of cranberries. I always forget the darn things and make them at the last minute. |

Relish is the way to go. Throw a (washed and sorted) bag of cranberries into the food processor. Add a half cup sugar (maybe more, you need to taste it as you go). Add the zest and juice of one orange. Blend well.
It's best to make it the day before, to let all the flavors meld overnight. Taste it again before serving to see if it needs tweaking. |
| Open can. Let cylinder of cranberry sauce slither out into bowl. Cut into discs when serving. I love that junky canned cranberry sauce taste. Must be a holdover from childhood memories! |
Ha ha - my mom still insists on canned cranberries so I know exactly what you mean! Thanks for all the suggestions - seems I got assigned a super easy dish! |
|
I make the recipe on the bag, but substitute orange juice for half the water and toss in a bag of mixed dried fruit (apples, cherries, craisins -- not tropical) plus some allspice.
Definitely better if you make it the day before. |
I also make the recipe on the bag, straight up just the way it's written, and it's super easy and delicious. You definitely got off with the easy assignment
|
| rinse cranberries, put in pot with water, lid cracked, add sugar to taste, drain can of mandarin oranges, add to cooked cranberries. Can sprinkle some walnuts on top of chilled sauce. |
