Pregnancy Sleeping Pillows

Anonymous
Has anyone shelled out any money for a specialized prenancy pillow? My old trusty standby regular pillow is starting to fail and I have to admit some of the pillows look like they might just work. Only problem is, there's a lot out there and all with names that make my DH laugh- the boppy, the preggle, the snuggle. If you have a pillow you like, please share! Thanks!

Once things started to get uncomfortable for me, I bought the Snoogle per a recommendation from a friend. I love it. It does take up a lot of room in the bed, but my DH says he doesn't mind. I have a pinched nerve in my hip that acts up when I lay down, which was getting worse as I got bigger, and the Snoogle has really helped. It's kind of candy-cane shaped with another curve at the bottom. I think it was around $55 at babies r us. Good luck!

My friend also recommended the Snoogle and I love it! I'm 27 weeks and it really helps me sleep comfortably by supporting my belly and my back. I think my DH is a little jealous I snuggle more with it than him! If you're looking for a good preg pillow, this one is worth it. Here's a link on Albee Baby, where it's on sale for $42

I really love the Back 'n Belly pillow, which I ordered online from Target for about $60.

I also got the snoogle. It really makes sleeping much more comfortable. I think I got mine off of amazon for about $50. It takes up a lot of the bed, but it's worth it.

I shelled out a moderatel amount of money ($30 for pillow and case) for a long body pillow (longer than a king-size pillow, not curved) at bed bath and beyond. that really helped during my second trimester. now that i'm in my third trimester, i have some pelvic/leg discomfort/sciatica and the pillow, while moderately helpful, is not keeping these aches and pains at bay. if people are endorsing the more expensive one that's targeted for pregnancy, i would suggest that you just get that from the beginning.

I didn't want to spend the money on a special pillow; more than that, I didn't know what I'd do with the dang thing after having the baby. I didn't have a place to keep it, so I figured it would just be something I'd throw away = waste of money. Anyway, I used about 4-5 "normal" pillows. I used two or three to prop myself up in a more inclined position once I got far along. I used another few when I was on my side, one between my legs and another that I held on to. At some point I think I wedged one behind my back. Anyway, this was very effective and allowed for a lot of flexibility since I was very uncomfortable near the end.

I just bought a long "body pillow" from Bed Bath and Beyond, and I love it. Its just a fluffy 2-3 times as long regular pillow and you can buy pillow cases for it right there. It cost less than 20 bucks. And you can use it on a regular bed later (to prop up pillows on a guest bed, for example) later. Cheap and easy and effective!
