Laparoscopy and Dr James Barter

Has anyone seen Dr Barter and what was your experience? I have been told I may have endometriosis from a doctor I got a second consult from although my current RE never said anything about it. This new Dr. thought I should see Dr. Barter. Thanks

Dr. Barter's partner, Dr. Steren, performed my fibroid surgery several years ago. Both have excellent reputations. I was referred to the practice by my RE and had serious issues about surgery. Dr. Steren was very reassuring and did an excellent job with my surgery. I saw both docs for follow-ups and can't say enough good things about both of them. You will be in good hands!

I work at Holy Cross. I would not recommend Dr. Barter to anyone.

I was recommended to dr. Barter by my RE for my fibroids surgery- we thought it would be laparoscopic removal, but end up removing via abdominal myomectomy. I saw him only 3 times- for consultation, surgery and follow up. He was experienced, I call tell that, but sometime I did feel that he was rushing things, but overall- I really had good experience with him. He does all his surgery at Holy Cross hospital and I really liked that hospital.

To PP- who work at Holy Cross- why wouldn't you recommend Dr. Barter?

I had a laparoscopy with Dr. Barter at Holy Cross in Spring 2010. It was a good experience and I felt the whole time that I was in very good hands. Dr. Barter located and removed some small spots that looked like endometriosis, but the biopsies came back as inconclusive for endo. Overall I would recommend Dr. Barter, and wouldn't hesitate to go to him again if I needed another laparoscopy.

Dr Steren removed my fibroid at Holy Cross in December 2011 and I highly recommend him, he has better bedside manner than Dr. Barter.

I had three surgeries with Dr Barter, I had cervical cancer and that man saved my life. I would highly recommend Dr. Barter. He has great bedside manner, he is so kind and well educated. He is an excellent surgeon! I would recommend him to everyone!

I've posted on this forum before about Dr. Barter. He did two surgeries for me (fibroid and polyp removal), and I can't say enough good things about him. I used to joke that I was going to give my daughter the middle name James in his honor (only half kidding, but went with a family name instead). I was initially referred to him through Dr. Gordon, but I didn't end up cycling with Dominion. I loved Dr. Barter's bedside manner -- although I suppose it's like any discussion of doctors where some will like and some will not -- but I was more concerned with his surgical skills.

I should add that I ended up seeing him for my annual gyn exams for several years, even driving from Virginia to do so.
