that would be me. if any of you out there are even SLIGHTLY tempted to purchase the Bebe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener as you stroll down the aisles of Babies R Us, please keep walking.
it is the biggest piece of junk. doesn't work worth a damn, and i should have read the online reviews, which suck. one reviewer noted that the biggest pro is that that it fits in the smallest trashcan. |
I've heard these cheap versions for sale are terrible, but I did rent one from an online company - Baby Beats or something like that? - and it was AWESOME. I had two high-risk pregnancies and my monitor gave me incredible peace of mind.

Op here- I am glad to hear that you had a good experience. I should have gone the route you did. For some reason it is important for me to hear the heartbeat, even though the little river dance she is doing on my bladder should be assurance enough that she is okay. |
OP: just in case you change your mind, here's the URL:
http://www.babybeat.com/fetal-dopplers.html?gclid=CN_0odGkw5QCFQNfFQodok6_Ew I found out about it from other high-risk women, and my ob said it was safe and fine. It's relatively cheap to rent by month. Anyhow, it sounds like you have all the reassurance you need! Good luck with all! |
OP- I agree with you- i bought one at a sale and it was the pits- made me nervous- i had already suffered through miscarriages and didn't need the suffering. anyway, i did rent a fetal doppler from an online company and it did help- i did try not to use it that much since some reports indicate stress to the fetus (which is why the ultrasounds are decreaseing lately iwth OBs) - but it helped me through the tough times and babyb is super healthy (BOTH OF THEM- 2 years apart)- and mommy was so happy to hear them and excited to meet them.. |
I got the Hi Bebe BT-200 Fetal Doppler from Amazon ($104) and it worked great. I could hear the heartbeat from 12 weeks on and it gives a digital readout as well. I found it fairly easy to find the heartbeat using it. |
For the PPs who rented, do you mind sharing which model you used? I'm considering this option and don't have a clue what features I need or don't need. Thanks!
