He really wants to help in kitchen. I have him doing some mooshing with his hands and stirring things (like pancake batter), but he really wants to help and gets MAD, mad, mad when I do it. I told friends we'd bring dessert and I'm curious if there are any ideas for things that he could do with me?
Pudding!
Cookies. He can help put/shape the dough on the cookie sheet.
another vote for pudding or cookies.
Some sort of fruit crisp. You can cut up the fruit (apples), he can stir them with the sugar or whatever else. Same thing with the crumble topping. He can help you measure and stir. You can both spread the fruit in the pan and sprinkle the crumbles on top. It'll be messy but lots of hands-on.

14:42 -- great idea.
Also bar cookies, because it's mainly about sitrring, pouring, leveling and sprinkling. Can't really mess it up. And plenty of opportunity to get creative -- he can decorate the top with chocolate chips or M&Ms or whatever. |
My 2 year old helped make cookies this morning.
Rice Krispie Treats!!! I think I will make some tonight!

I often give my guy a bowl of flour and water and just let him stir to his hearts content. I even have made special batches of dough for him to cut with cookie cutters.
Something insanely simple, get the Snyders pretzels, the little square ones, put a hersheys kiss on each one and put them in the oven on like 300 for just a couple minutes, you only want to soften the kiss. Top & smoosh with an M&M. No mess, impossible to mess up, perfect for little hands. And imagine how much time he will spend unwrapping the kisses.

Trifle
Dirt pudding!
Stir up some brownie mix. If you want a really good one, go to Trader Joe's and get the truffle brownie mix (don't remember the exact name).

Dirt and worms! (chocolate pudding with crushed up Oreos and gummy worms )

I just made Trader Joe's pumpkin muffins with my 2 yr old. They have a mix for this as well as apple cake, cranberry cake, and a couple others. She helped mix and scoop into the muffin tray. Messy, but fun. I think we stared at the oven for the entire 20 min it took to bake.
My 2 y/o helps me make everything. Apple pie, cupcakes, cake, cookies. I cut apples, he puts them into the bowl, mixes w/ spices. We put liners into pans, I pour and he guides, scrapes. He puts sprinkles on icing. You know your kid best but I think there's no limit on what I'll let mine do. I don't care about the mess.
