| Unpaid families who paid for camp were already identified as creditors under the prior (?) Chapter 11 proceedings. This isn’t the first time this group has had to be identified. |
| This camps sounds like a complete and utter disaster. My kid loves horseback riding and would love to do an overnight riding camp, but there is no way I would enroll her here. |
| Any current campers at Rim Rock? DD returning soon. |

I just came back to this thread because I was re-reading the same letter from the court mentioned above and wondering what it meant. And I saw Joe's message above talking about how great things are. Yes, covid impacted them but there were also tax issues going back, parents who never got refunds from 2020 and more importantly employees who never got paid over multiple years. Why is it that other camps are not in bankruptcy proceedings after covid? I am one of the parents who never got a refund, and I know that money is long gone, but MAN does his message make me mad talking about "anonymous comments" like people are slandering them or something? We are out $3000 that he's using to run that camp and doing everything in court not to pay it back -- for YEARS now. And to those of you defending the camp - yes it may seem great, but just know there is a lot going on behind the scenes. They are not honest people, and I would not send my child to a camp knowing that. Please read this entire thread for more information, or look up the public court documents. |
| You need to file a Proof of Claim |
We are in the same boat, out thousands of dollars since 2020. I have seen pictures that neighbors have posted on social media of their daughters at Rim Rock this past summer. If Joe is now running a functional camp and collecting money from it, why is this still in BK proceedings? This smells so fishy. |

I just received another notice to approve a bankruptcy plan due in December. How many times have we received these notices? When will I get my check? I am so angry.
And when I looked up this thread to post I saw Joe's message about this summer being the greatest summer ever. He doesn't acknowledge us at all - it's wild that they can just keep operating and acting like nothing happened when we have not been paid. So frustrating! There are so many good camps, I don't know why anyone would choose this one when they are in the bankruptcy courts. The bankruptcy was not just because of COVID. Lots of other camps are operating normally after COVID and didn't have to enter bankruptcy. |
| Bumping this to warn parents who are thinking about Rim Rock about the financial troubles of the camp. Some families are still out thousands of dollars and have not been paid back. Caveat emptor. |
| I've started posting on their social media. They delete it but at least it's up for a while before they see it. |

In case anyone is interested, I emailed the attorney and this was his reponse:
While the Camp is in bankruptcy, it is legally prohibited from paying any of its pre-bankruptcy claims, including yours. The bankruptcy court recently held a hearing on the camp’s proposed plan of reorganization. With only minor adjustments, the plan will be confirmed. Your claim is scheduled to be paid in full. Whether or not the payment schedule will adhered to is another story. But at lease it's not dead in the water. |
| I am so heartbroken by this. I am a former camper of 10 years and have sent my daughter to camp the last few summers. I knew they had issues around COVID but had no idea it had gotten to this point. We live out of state and traveling to and from camp is a big expense on top of camp tuition. I have paid about half of this year's tuition, and seems like we would be in a long line if looking for a refund, but before buying flights would like to know if camp is even going to be open this year. |
Joe is a con artist- there are so many wonderful camps up and down the east Coast but Camp Rim Rock is not one of them. Joe comes across as a fun sociable guy, but he is a sneaky person. |
| There are plenty of other camps who have their finances in order. The owner of this camp feels he does not have to pay taxes. Whether business or his home. Joe has little consideration for anyone but himself. |
| DO NOT SEND YOUR DAUGHTERS HERE. We are owed a refund from 2021. Part of it was paid under the bankruptcy, but he is a year late on the latest installment and doesn't respond to phone calls or emails. Even the lawyer has stopped responding. Joe is a con artist. |
