Why did Edd Houck concede?

Nearly 50,000 votes cast, and he trailed by just 222. From what I've read about the Franken Senate victory, disputed ballots almost always break the way of Democrats. Why not ask for the recount?

Actually recounts show that it is unlikely that large of a % will change.

I think it shows good character that he isn't hanging on to an extremely small percentage chance of winning.

The same reason Allen conceded in 2006.

VA elections are pretty clean affairs; hell even our political machine (Byrd Organization) was never known for outright graft the way other machines became (in)famous for.

At 86 votes, a recount is warranted IMO, or at least a delay in concession.

But then it became 222 votes, and it hinged in Louisa County which isn't exactly progressive territory.
