| I have a child with mild SN who's approaching middle school age and I'm not ready to let him be a latchkey kid yet. Since SACC is only for elementary, what options are there for middle school? What do people do? |
| I have an early elementary age student, but was told all middle schools have after care with busing 3 days a week. Hopefully someone else can elaborate. |

Yes.. I have been so worried about this too. We are not from the US originally and the concept of a child alone at home in the afternoon scares us.
What do most parents do? I have pretty much decided to quite my job or go part time once my child goes to middle school. |
I'm planning on switching my work hours so I'm in the office at 6 am. (!!!) |

This is the FCPS website page discussing afterschool for middle schoolers. I had just thought that the aftercare program provided would be similar to SACC with possibly some more sports and clubs added. Can someone elaborate what their concerns are? It says the program goes till 5:45 most days with possibly some days ending at 4:00 with a late bus probably getting your child home about 4:30. We are not there yet, but I assume my child could stay at home at middle school age for 1 hour if needed a couple of days a week. I'm glad they at least have something. Are these programs rough? What is the concern about them?
