Please recommend developmental optometrist, who can diagnose and help with tracking and convergence issues. We've seen Dr. Kotlicki in Columbia, but were hoping to find someone closer to DC
|
| We really liked Dr. Renner in Falls Church. |
| Just saw Dr. Vike Vicente in Chevy Chase at the Friendship Heights Metro. He was amazing! He has a great way with kids! |
| Second on vike vicente! Please use a pediatric ophthalmologist, NOT a developmental optometrist. Lots of quackery in the latter. |
| Dr. Alan Sikes....Springfield, VA area, just outside the beltway. |

NP here- we had a ophthalmology follow-up today and we now have a tracking issue. My son (5yo) has "choppy" tracking when his eyes are "in pursuit" . He also has other eye issues that the opthalmalogist is treating with patching and glasses, and may need surgery for. Of course, this doctor was very skeptical of any talk of vision therapy but I have heard of some cases that parents found success with.
Has anyone else's child have "choppy" tracking and had success with vision therapy? |
| PP here: Please don't pursue vision therapy!! Lots of quackery, NO evidence-based research. |
| Not OP or prev poster, but why not get opinions from both? We see both. The benefit of dev opt. is that they can recommend 'therapy' or exercises. |
Probably will recommend therapy. I've never heard of someone getting out of a developmental opt. without a recommendation for VT. |
