Restaurant for date night in Alexandria

Anonymous
My husband and I are finally getting out of the house tomorrow night! Yippee! I am looking for a nice restaurant - preferably not a bar & grill type. Mom and Pop type restaurants are fine, as long as the food is great. We've tried Trattoria De Franco , but DH was not impressed. I'd love to go to Le Refuge, but he doesn't like French food (I don't know if he's actually had French food... I just know he says he doesn't want it). We plan to see a movie at either Potomoc Yard or Hoffman Center, depending on where we eat. Hops in Potomac Yard is ok, but I wanted something a little nicer. Maybe Ruth Chris in Crystal City? Other ideas?

Taverna Cretekou, they may even have a live performance, you'll have to check with them.

Vermillion, The Majestic, Columbia Firehouse. Momo for sushi.

10:25 here. I was at The Majestic for the first time last night. The food was great, but the service sucked. We were there for 2 hours, which was fine as it was our only time with an out-of-town visitor, but in other circumstances it may have been annoying. It was just really, really slow. I'd give them another shot though, everyone has a bad night, and like I said, the food was really tasty.

Bastille! Totally weird location. But small and intimate and very romantic with delicious food!

We went to Brabo last night and it was pretty tasty. Not cheap though-our bill came to $175 before tip.

I just went here with some friends a month ago - it is a totally strange location, but the inside is really nice and food was good! I would go back.

Majestic is terrible. Bad service. Pretentious food. Not good neighbors

If you are going to a movie, you probably won't be sitting over dinner for hours. What about the Tasting Room, beside Brabo? Great "small plate" food, nice wines and usually a good crowd on a Friday night. Virtue would be another possibility, but it will likley be very busy. Otherwise, you could try Jaleo in Crystal City or the Italian place right next door--Flora??
