sahm of 3, ages 5 and under -why can't I get my sh*t together

I want to be organized at home. I want to take care of myself. I start off on something ok but I don't stick to whatever I try to get and stay organized (with paperwork/bills/finances, meals, cleaning, laundry, errands) and then I slide back into another mess. I am sick of it and myself. I love my three children and mostly love my husband but I really feel like a complete failure (with the exception that my kids are well taken care of and happy good kids). I see other moms every day at the bus stop and at preschool drop off that by all appearances have taken care of themselves and don't seem "a day late and a dollar short" with everything...i'm so tired of it

You have 3 kids.

'nuff said

Thankfully, you're not a Duggar.

Care to have 17 more?????

I have 3 under 5 as well.

YOU JUST HAVE TO SURRENDER TO THE CHAOS!

I've decided that things are just not going to be consistently better until the kids are older.
There's one of me (picking up) and three of them constantly making a mess.

Then you are doing your job.

Appearances can be deceiving. I probably come across as really put together but my marriage is pretty much shit and I'm constantly stressed. I also have 3 kids that are also young (oldest turned 6 last month) and work FT out of the home.

Schedules and routines help (whether you are a working mom or a SAHM).

If your kids are taken care of and happy you are doing a good job. I can understand the frustration with mess/chaos/lack of downtime - but those things get better as you get into the groove of things and as the kids get older.

Well, you're kids won't be little forever. And have you tried something like Motivated Moms or FlyLady? You don't have to follow those exactly, but they have a lot of good ideas that could help you get into helpful routines.
