KP Parents: What do you think of the Principal?

Just curious... I've been to a few events where she is almost like a cheerleader for the school. While she appears rather approachable, she doesn't seem very "principal-like" to me, but maybe things have changed since I went to school. I talked with her briefly once and it seemed like she was quoting a power point presentation rather than giving me a genuine answer.

You just don't like her, do you? Grow up.

Wow, slamming a specific, easily identified person on an open forum and trying to get others to join you. Not cool.

I spoke with principle on the phone recently about something I saw in the school that troubled me. I don't know much about KP, but I did visit since we might move into the neighborhood and we have a boy going into Kindergarten. On my tour I saw a boy who was reprimanded in a way that upset me. I don't know the whole story, but nonetheless, it seemed harsh. Anyhow, when I told the principle about this, she defended the teacher 100% and did not question anything the teacher did, even though she wasn't there. So, she did not have a satisfactory answer for me, which would have been an explanation of their discipline policy and how my observation fit into that, and some indication that she would look into what happened. She did return my phone call and give me her time, she gave me an enthusiastic description of the school, but it did seem a little bit like a cheerleader and did not get to the substance all that much. Again, I don't know her, I don't have a child in the school, but this is my experience. I hope the person who asked the question is not turned by the first person's response. It's a great question and I would be interested in hearing any other feedback.

Hello, I just posted, but I wanted to make sure that I communicate that the principal was really nice and professional. The cheer leader quality was more her enthusiasm than anything else. She granted me permission to see the school even though orientations don't start for a couple of months, and because I couldn't see her in person when I was there, I left my phone number and she called me, devoting a good deal of time to the conversation. The discipline incident could have been a one off thing, and again, I didn't see everything that happened. I hear wonderful things about KP.
