| I had a miscarriage in mid-October. I was 8 weeks pregnant. My midwife told me that I could expect "a really long period", but it has now been almost 4 weeks and I am still bleeding. Sometimes it will be light, but other times, it's still very heavy. How long is this bleeding going to last? |

Unfortunately, that isn't a question that has an easy answer. Miscarriages are all different depending on how and why they happen. Sometimes they are over in a matter of hours and sometimes they last for weeks. I've had both kinds. It does seem like you might want to go in and have your RE (or your OB is you aren't dealing with infertility) do a transvaginal ultrasound to make sure that the miscarriage wasn't incomplete. It really couldn't hurt and it might help explain things. If it was an incomplete miscarriage, they can do a D&C.
So sorry for you loss. |
| I m/c at 17 weeks and delivered the baby and I still bled for almost a month. I had one whole week off before my first period started. So you just never know. I'd definately check in with your midwife if you're concerned to see if a D&C is needed. So sorry for your loss. |
| Thank you both. I will call the midwife and see what she has to say. It will be 3 weeks on Thursday and I was a little concerned about it being incomplete. |

I bled for over 4 months with a miscarriage at 8 weeks. It's different every time, like 10:49 said. Good idea to have someone check to make sure it's complete. Mine wasn't and it just took a really long time.
Sorry for your loss, OP. |
