This is very similar to the ramblings of relatives with mid-stage dementia. There is that moment for 6 months to a year where they can almost come off okay until they have to engage in lengthier conversations. Then the truth of what you and your loved ones are facing is suddenly and horribly clear. It reads just like this to me.
