Martial arts for little kids?

I've been looking into martial arts classes for my 4 yo son and 6 yo daughter and I'm struggling with what seems to be the norm - committing to multiple classes per week for at least a year at an average of $150/child per month. Is there anyone reputable who does this more like a "session" (a couple of months) at a reasonable cost? I am just shocked, I have to say, as this is so different from eery other sport and activity we have ever done (we have an older child too) like yoga, gymnastics, dance, swimming, music, art, etc.

Any advice is welcome - we are in NW DC east of the park, so recommendations in NW or NE DC or near Montgomery County are appreciated.

They meet at Bancroft Elementary in Mt. Pleasant. They are pretty flexible about attendance.
