Takoma Park public schools

We are considering a move back to the DC area. We previously lived in Arlington, but the MD burbs would be more convenient this time. I think we would like the walkability, metro access and community vibe in Takoma Park, but I am wondering about the schools. My oldest is in second grade so middle school will be here before we know it. He is of average intelligence but has been tentatively diagnosed with ADHD and general anxiety disorder. I suspect middle school will be a big challenge for him.

Any thoughts on the Montgomery County schools that serve Takoma Park?

People are generally very happy with TPES (K-2) and Piney Branch ES (3-5). The middle school is TPMS and hosts the very well regarded Math/Science magnet. People seem to really like TPMS even if not in the magnet. High school is Blair which is also well regarded and also hosts the HS level Math/Science magnet and the Communication Arts magnet. Can't speak to experiences with special needs. I suggest joining the Takoma Park parents listserv and asking your question there. It is a very active and supportive internet community. Good luck.
