For those who have hired a sleep consultant...

I'm about at my wits end with getting my 22 month old to sleep at night. For those of you who've hired either of the two local consultants, do/will they come to your home? In checking the past posts, it looks like they only do phone/in-office consultations. I guess I'm trying to figure out if it really works w/o having someone actually come into my home and see what are bedtime is like.

Thanks in advance from a very tired and frustrated Mom!

We used Annika and while we did it all over the phone, she was very nice and might consider coming to your home if you asked her. BTW, she was great and it solved our problem within a week.

We used Annika as well. We did it entirely over the phone and we fixed the issue in one-two nights. It is certainly possible to have excellent results without having someone come to your house. That being said, I totally understand why you would want someone in your house. I think the other consultant (Suzy something - sorry, I don't know her fully name) has packages where someone comes to your house.

How much do the sleep consultants run? Is it a per-problem charge or hourly rates?

Annika was a flat fee (I think it was around $700) for our child. That included the initial two hour consultation and continuous follow-up calls on the phone for a period of a week or two. We often had 3-4 calls a day. I think the other sleep consultant has a different fee structure though with more and less expensive packages. For us, it was worth every penny.

Suzy Giordano will do an in-home consultation, as well as phone consultations. She also has a couple of other people on her staff that do in-home consultations. We used her for a 1 hour in-home consultation and it was $250. It was worth every penny - the best $250 I ever spent, seriously. She did not need to see our bedtime routine, but met us (me, Dad and kid), and saw our sleeping scenario during a one-hour visit on a Saturday morning. If you are at your wits end, don't hesitate to hire someone to do an in-home visit.

OP here-Thanks to everyone who responded. I'm going to see how tonight goes. If it's crazy, I'll be calling in the am. Thanks again to you all!
