Chantilly Commute

Does any one have expereince commuting between DC and Chantilly? I'm attempted to take a job in Chantilly but worried about what the rush hour commute will do to my quality of life. Any insights/opinions?

I commute from Falls Church to Chantilly each day and prior to that I commuted from Arlington to Chantilly for 4 years. It isn't really that bad. The commute from Arlington was about 45 minutes in the morning (I left home at 8-8:30) and about 45-60 minutes at night (leaving work at 6-6:30).

DH does this commute. It takes 35 minutes in the morning, but can take as long as 2 hours in the evening. Usually it will take him about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours in the evening. It might not be as bad for you depending where in DC you live, but 66 is a real PITA. I hardly see DH during the week now.

PP, here. I forgot to say that his morning commute is so quick because he leaves the house at about 6am when traffic is fairly light.

I would love to score a job in Chantilly, once my kids were done with the DC preschools. I would move out there though, and not try and commute...live somewhere with good schools or in a nice rural area with a view.

I did this for a while. 45 mn from NW DC to Chantilly in the morning, leaving around 8.45am. Coming back was more like 1h15mn... and worse on friday afternoons/early evenings.
