If one more person rings my fucking doorbell I'm going to lose it

Seriously, there is a No Solicitation sign at every entrance to my neighborhood and at least twice a week I get solicitors. That doesn't include girl scouts or boy scouts; they get a pass, and don't come at nap time, but the solicitors ALWAYS come at nap time, as does UPS or FedEx. I order a lot off of Amazon so I think just for that very reason I'm going to need to put a sign on my door that reads, "Please do not knock or ring bell between the hours of 12 and 4. Thank you." Is that nuts? I don't want to seem crazy, but it wakes up my 2 boys and then we are doomed for the rest of the day. Oh and I love the double door bell ring, followed by loud bang bang bang! That this one delivery guy always does, when he doesn't even need a fucking signature. He just rings, bangs, and drives away.

Why don't you just unhook your doorbell?

And, knocking? How close to the front door are your kids napping?

Sign sounds totally fine to me. A big one that will get their attention. "Baby sleeping; please don't ring or knock." And you can take it down, if you like, when naps are over. I know several people who do this.

Amen!!! I could kiss the delivery men & women that leave packages on the porch without knocking.

A sign is not crazy. I've put up a little Post-it note with "Baby sleeping, pls. don't knock!" (We have no bell but a small house and a very large knocker.) I put it right below the knocker-- if we have a bell I'd probably put a sign right over that during naptime.

Unhook? Huh? And the knocking is always heard, thanks to wood floors I think. They are upstairs in bedrooms but you can hear it loudly.

BIG SIGN. Put it up.

If UPS or FedEx needs a signature, they are supposed to come back when its NOT nap time? Are you crazy?
The world does not revolve around naptimes.

Its simple - stop ordering stuff that comes via UPS or Fedex if it bothers you that much.

And the guys who knock and drive away? They are just being courteous, some people may actually need the item that they are delivering right away. Like meds or something.

I disconnected my doorbell ages ago and haven't missed it. The mailman knows to knock and I don't care about anyone else.

Thank you voice of reason...we don't see you around these parts very often.

I agree you should put up a sign. There is nothing wrong with "Sleeping baby, please do not ring bell". You should also invest in white noise machines (they are like $20 from Target) for your kids while they nap. Those would probably wipe out the noise of the doorbell anyway.

Stop ordering so much crap online.

We cut the power cord to our doorbell so that our incredibly light sleeper wouldn't wake up at every doorbell ring. I remember storming out and giving what for to some person trying to sell me something after a long and drawn out battle to get my child to nap only to be woken up by the doorbell.
