Using DRA2 WA scores to help choose appropriate level books

Anonymous
The DRA2 WA scores just came home with my K student in FFX. I don't see that score used in the reading levels of books that help identify books appropriate for different level readers. Is there a conversion chart for the DRA2WA scores into any of the reading levels used in scholastic flyers? I'm struggling a little to find books that are more challenging for our DC without the content being too mature.

Have you tried the Scholastic Book Wizard?

Click on the drop down to select a reading level system like DRA. The Book Wizard doesn't provide all information for all books, but has been generally helpful for us. Hope it helps!

you won't find books "levelled" by DRA II b/c DRA II is about phonetic awareness and pre-reading skills. Your child could be at the top of the DRA II scale (193), but that wouldn't tell you what level s/he is one the DRA/guided reading level books.

You would probably want to look at books in the DRA 6-10 range which is like a guided reading level A-F.

This might help:

You could also ask your teacher to give a Guided Reading suggestion for your child, and use that level to look at books. There are lots of leveled books lists on the web.
