A big part of this is JD Vance’s fault. Once he said they had absolute immunity the administration knew exactly what direction this was going.

Where it was going has always been intentional. The hope was that they'd get enough violence from the public to use the Insurrection Act. The miscalculation was that their own goons weren't disciplined enough and were caught on film executing a guy, and then they tried to spin that.
