| Has anyone whitewashed a brick house? If so, can you recommend a company that does it? Also, what is the cost for an average size house? TIA |
| Painting brick is a crime against nature |
I agree. That's why I want to whitewash it instead of paint it. The brick on our house is unusually dark and looks bad. |
why so? |
Completely disagree! There is so much ugly brick out there. |
Also have to disagree. There are a lot of shabby looking brick houses in our neighborhood circa pre-WWII. Also, the TV show Curl Appeal has painted several brick houses and they always look great. |
| My father was a stone mason and bricklayer straight from Italy. He would have agreed that there's a crap load of ugly brick out there! |
|
Don't do it! Don't do it!! Every time I see a white brick house I think "WHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYY?"
|
| Whitewashed brick is a great look. Go for it. |
| I love the look of whitewash, especially when its partially faded. |
Whitewash is not the same as painting a house white. http://fleamarketgardening.com/category/whitewashed-brick-homes/ |
Wow, if I saw that, I'd assume someone tried really hard to remove white paint from their bricks but gave up after a long battle. |
| I love whitewashed brick! I want to do it to our house, but we are on a block with 6 houses that look exactly the same and I don't want to make my neighbors hate me. |
| I love the whitewashed brick too! I prefer painted brick over ugly brick, although I love the beautiful old red, red brick. Any type of brownish brick- yuck. |
Agree about the brownish brick. This is a tastefully painted brick house:
